Earlier this year, chainsaw manufacturer STIHL uncovered a flourishing trade in fake chainsaws. When tested, some of these fake products showed very serious defects of various components.
This link shows ‘Fake Britain’ investigating the scam including the sale of fake chain saws in Europe. The STIHL counterfeits came to Europe from China. They are made with cheap materials and are lacking in important safety features which make them dangerous to use.

‘Just watching the chainsaws on Fake Britain is probably the most terrifying thing I’ve seen. People importing and selling fake Stihl chainsaws with dodgy or non working chain brakes, weak handles and general poor quality. If you are offered a cheap chain saw be wary!’ - Graham Wisden, Gavin Jones Workshop Fitter
Sadley the illegal distribution of this product continues within the country. Please make sure you purchase your STIHL products from an authorised reseller such as Gavin Jones. Our experienced team are well qualified and have attended ‘Service Training’ courses provided by STIHL.
