Although the leaves of Ilex crenata resemble Box, it’s actually a Japanese holly and is often trained into complex beautiful cloud-shaped bushes. Tough, hardy and evergreen, Ilex crenata specimens thrive in either pots or in the ground and need clipping only twice a year (May and September). We’re delighted to announce that our Plantation Coffee Shop has been awarded a 5 Star Rating by the Food Standards Agency who, after their inspection, described the Coffee Shop as achieving an exemplary standard, above and beyond requirements. Isobel, thrilled by the news, stated “I’m overjoyed that we now have confirmed recognition that our catering facilities are as good as our plants!”

A bit about us…….
Gavin Jones began when Colonel Gavin Jones bought a small horticultural property and began to cultivate alpine plants as a hobby, but today we are one of Britain’s leading landscape and grounds maintenance enterprises. Our coffee shop was opened last year at The Plantation Nursery in Addlestone, and plans for 2012 include the creation of a Gavin Jones Diploma in Horticulture and Pioneering a sustainable planting system called Impact Planting.
Gavin Jones has a strong environmental focus; we have installed bee hives at various sites, committed to reduce our carbon footprint by 3% per annum and are now using solar and potentially wind energy.

Fake STIHL

Earlier this year, chainsaw manufacturer STIHL uncovered a flourishing trade in fake chainsaws. When tested, some of these fake products showed very serious defects of various components.

This link shows ‘Fake Britain’ investigating the scam including the sale of fake chain saws in Europe. The STIHL counterfeits came to Europe from China. They are made with cheap materials and are lacking in important safety features which make them dangerous to use.

‘Just watching the chainsaws on Fake Britain is probably the most terrifying thing I’ve seen. People importing and selling fake Stihl chainsaws with dodgy or non working chain brakes, weak handles and general poor quality.
